Someone asked me this question:
“I always get demotivated at some point and can’t stick to a process long enough. How do YOU maintain your discipline with your work on your health and life?”
Here’s how I manage to stay motivated
- At the core, I value problem-solving and figuring things out. In almost everything I do.
This means that whatever the outcome, I’m in love with the process of figuring things out with my body and with life and most things in general.
- I hate having someone pay for my mistakes.
In Canada, it’s everyone’s taxes who’s paying for you if you’re sick. I hate this system because I’m paying ridiculous amounts of money every year because of other people’s lack of accountability. That said, I don’t want to be part of this problem, so I take full ownership of my life.
Having said all this, if you’re unmotivated to fix your problems, you have to ask yourself WHY.
If you go deep enough, most often it has something to do with what you VALUE. And chances are, if figuring things out, solving problems and accountability aren’t high on your list of priorities, then yes, you WILL get demotivated.
Moral of the story if you want to stay motivated: Fix what you prioritize… in your thoughts, actions and way of life.
Fix your value system…
And all the rest will follow.
This is absolutely easier said than done. I agree. But at least if this text can give you some things to think about in the right direction, it’s a start.
