I’ve been doing some sprints this morning to test out an old problem I’m slowly starting to be able to map out.
And to make it clear because many have asked me this lately:
My “problems” aren’t painful anymore. I can do many things with my body, and nothing will get triggered.
But I DO feel like some regions will be problematic in 20-30 years from now if I don’t address them while I have the capacity to.
That said, the more I’m in the process of reversing my degeneracy, the more I feel like the real work is now just starting…
Even after 7 years of relentless work.
I’m saying this because the first 3-4 years of this journey have “simply” been me neurologically mapping how my body and limbs should be positioned.
This wasn’t time wasted, but now that I have a better understanding of these variables, I feel like I’m finally starting to challenge my deeper structure like I should have been since day 1.
Before, everything was about “angles” and myofascial restrictions.
But now, it’s a question of “drivers” and bones.
More concretely, what used to stop me were myofascial restrictions, but now I feel like what’s stopping me from progressing is starting to be more shape of my bones.
And the thing is that to be able to generate the torque necessary to pull on those calcified regions, my muscles will need to level up quite a lot to sustain the stress…
Otherwise I’ll just be trying to pull on the deeper structure and strain the superficial layers.
That said, my awareness and understanding are gradually enabling me to get better at this.
There are still “empty” regions, but some regions are getting fuller, and it feels good.
I still find the progress slow, to be honest, but looking back at older photos of me, I find that I look a lot better now than I used to, so I think things are slowly coming together:
(Left picture is in 2018, after about 1.5 years of work. Right picture is in summer 2024)
If you’re new in all this and you’re still just at the “correcting angles” phase, it’s totally fine.
It’s part of the process, and you have to go through those steps.
Everyone does, in fact!
But know that there is layers to all this, and the more you peel them, the more you want to peel them.
All this said, my question lately has also been:
How do I fast track someone to create those types of drivers in a year or less, instead of 3+ years?
I don’t fully have the answer…. but time will tell.
